      – Had the unit for just two months and already it stopped working. Disappointed

Poor Design Elements Lead to Costly Repair – I have owned this ice maker for 18 months, and it has worked well for the most part. Until this week, the only complaint I’ve had concerns the “Full Ice” sensor – a metal rod that sticks out into (and holds up) the ice bin. The design is poor because an ice cube can land and get stuck on top of the sensor, giving you a “Full Ice” light when the tray might not be full. But this only happens rarely. It is more common for the ice to mound up on the side of the bin closest to the ice maker, eventually touching the sensor and telling you the ice is full when you can fit several more cycles of ice in. Easy fix – just scoop the ice away from the sensor and pinch the sensor between your fingers to warm it up and start a new cycle; it’s just inconvenient. At other times, it seems like the sensor decides not to work at all, and I end up with a mountain of ice that blocks the ice case from rotating and shutting down the ice maker. I believe that this may have contributed to my current issue. Several days ago I noticed that my ice cubes were coming out small and bell-shaped, tapering off at the hole end. Upon investigation, I realized that there is a good-sized crack (see pictures) in the ice case (where the cubes are made) and that water was slowly draining out of the case during the freeze process, giving me the funky-shaped cubes. I tried to fix it by covering the crack with silicone sealant, but the crack goes through the plastic housing that connects the case to the motor, and now the motor spins without rotating the case properly. I visited the manufacturer website and found that I can order a new ice case for a whopping $20. For a piece of plastic. It doesn’t even include the scoop that attaches to the front of the ice case. Oh well, another $20 to keep it running after a year and a half? Sure. But don’t forget shipping for $9.95. TEN DOLLARS for the cheapest ground shipping! For a piece of plastic that weighs hardly anything! Come on, NewAir. You already got us for a couple hundred to buy your product. Don’t price gouge us to repair the product that broke because of your bad design. I still ordered it; I guess it beats buying a whole new ice maker. I went online and saw that other people have had the exact same issue. There’s even a 3-part video of a guy fixing his ice case with epoxy (for the second time – his ice case cracked TWICE). I really don’t feel like I can recommend this product to anybody, unless they’re ok with dismantling and repairing it every couple years for 30 bucks a pop.

Good Ice Machine – Lasted 2 1/2 years – Extended Warranty ANY Ice Maker you buy! – I bought this Ice Maker in October 2019 and in March 2021 it would no longer work. It worked flawlessly 24×7 in our Garage from the day we bought it. Cleaned it only a few times (oops!) but it kept working as we expected.

Quick and Easy – This ice machine is easy too use and easy to clean. It fits nicely on our countertop. No funny flavor in the ice. The only thing I don’t like is not being able to dump the ice from the ice maker into the freezer without the ice “cubes” sticking together in an ice brick.

Works great, until it doesn’t – In other reviews, I’d read that it’s important to buy an extended warranty, so I did but my icemaker broke within the 1 year manufacturer’s warranty period so in order to get it replaced, without paying shipping, I have to write a review of the product.
