Functional and Attractive – When I was looking for a range hood, I didn’t expect to find one on Amazon. But, to my delight, Amazon has range hoods! I was looking for a functional range hood that wouldn’t break the bank since I had already spent a good deal of cash on a new refrigerator and range. My new appliances are Frigidaire brand and so I thought that is the brand of range hood I would purchase. However, in reviewing various range hoods, I agreed with one reviewer who commented that the Frigidaire range hood didn’t appear to have a finished look on the underside. I noticed this Broan range hood had a nice, finished look, and it didn’t break the bank. It was $40 cheaper than the Frigidaire brand, and knowing Broan is a great brand for fans (I have one in each bathroom), I decided I would pull the trigger.

Works perfectly – I needed something affordable for a rental. This worked just fine.

Direct replacement for older (30+ years) models – The one thing to get out of the way first: this is a direct replacement for the standard hood found nearly everywhere. With that being said, the caveat is that mine had the cabinet hole for the wires on the other side, so some minor drilling was needed. Meh.

Damage Discovered After Installation! – Bought this range hood to replace an old (25+ years) 30” Ventline range hood. Everything was going along very well—the Broan hood was virtually a perfect fit under our cabinets where the old hood was removed from, and my husband installed it quite easily. We stood back to gaze upon the beauty only to realize we still needed to remove the blue plastic protective strip that was on the very front of the unit. I peeled it off only to discover several scratches in the black paint. How they got UNDER the protective strip is a mystery as the shipping box was in excellent condition showing no signs of brutal treatment from UPS, and the strip itself had no nicks or holes in it to indicate damage after the strip had been applied. We could only come to the conclusion that the fan was scratched by the manufacturer but rather than scrap it or repair the damage, they covered it up with the protective blue strip and put it on the market anyway. Since the hood was fully installed when we found the damage, we were hardly in the mood for removing it, packing it up, and shipping it back to Amazon. I took a black Sharpie and filled the scratches in the best I could, and really unless you are right up close and looking for them, the scratches are much less noticeable. Moral of this story is that it might be best to remove that blue strip before installation so that you can find any possible damage before it is installed and return it if you so choose. The fan itself is very quiet on the low setting, somewhat noisy on the high setting; suction seems adequate but not stellar which I didn’t expect anyway considering the price point. The hood can accept up to a 75w bulb, and we put in an LED bulb that gives off plenty of bright white light but doesn’t get hot enough to melt the plastic shield that covers the bulb. If it weren’t for the scratches in the unit, I would have given 5 stars.

Seems to be a solid unit for the price. – The metal is fairly thin gauge and the first I received was dented, the second was slightly blemished with a small ding but was better than the first so I just installed it. Then I realized I had failed to remove my light bulb from the first when I returned the first one. Someone got a freebie LED bulb

Nice looking replacement. – I lived without a working range hood for years, but after painting my kitchen, I was ready to remedy that and change from the drab “appliance” white that came with my home. This is well made and has a good, black finish. This is for the home, not a commercial kitchen, so it has the typical suction power, which isn’t impressive, just taking out what comes right off the stove top or oven. If you want something extra powerful, you’d have to upgrade to something more. Nice to have a light again over the stove, though. I like it and it was an easy change out on installation.

Does the job – It’s not the top notch model but it does the job perfectly. I love the light just above my cooking, it absorbs the steam very well. In short it makes my life easier at a reasonable price. Note: it doesn’t come with the wiring to be installed so purchase it on the side. Not expensive and you need it.
