Frige – Small to snail not cold

Inexpensive cooler – I purchased this mini fridge as a way to store and keep cool a bedside insulin vial. So far it has worked as I had hoped. USB powered, so it will work in a vehicle and easy to pack for travel. There is a rocker switch on the cord that changes the unit’s function to a warmer if desired. The door is magnetic, so no catch mechanism to break. It has a small internal fan that circulates room air around the electronics that emits a soft buzzing sound. Not sure if it has enough cooling power to adequately chill a canned drink (maybe if left overnight). However, has works perfectly for my purposes and MUCH cheaper than purpose built insulin coolers.

waist of money – i usually drink cans so i like to keep them cold when i do so i bought this thinking “o hey this would be great to cool and keep them cold as i drink!”

It’s fine. Hard drive space requirement seems odd. – Purchased as a gift to keep cosmetics cool. Here is the recipient feedback, “This serves its purpose. Though not at all cold, it keeps items that touch the metal base cooler than if not touching the base, especially a small container of face cream prone to melt in the heat. Buyer beware regarding plugging into a computer – instructions say hard drive space is required. This is unusual. Plug and play devices generally use RAM, not hard drive space. This item works fine plugged into a USB port electrical outlet.”

Looks cheap, but kept the insulin chilled – So far work to keep insulin’s chilled, but wish it kept it more cold…so far still works

Chilling a can is NOT the only use for these – I have an avid interest in astronomy and astrophotography. These can chillers have a Peltier heat sink and cooling fan which can be used to cool ZWO ASI Cameras, which are designed to be used with telescope to capture images of planets and deep space objects. Cooling a camera will result in images with less noise and pixelization. It’s a cheap hack that works great!

Only works on metal – This fridge is working perfectly now, but it only works on metal. So to keep a drink cold it must be in a metal container. The cold part is a pad on the bottom inside of the fridge. The air inside doesn’t get cold just that pad. So the container the drink is in must be able to conduct that cold up and around the beverage. I purchased metal cups and rubber lids. It would also work on a canned beverage.
