I like it – I have used this twice on the commercial carpets in an Eye Care office I clean. In total, there are 5 different carpets and it works well on all of them. I really didn’t know what to expect since in researching carpet sweepers, the reviews were all over the place. Trusting the one extensive positive review for this sweeper, I decided to try this one. We wanted a carpet sweeper to spot clean the debris that tracks in from outdoors plus other odd bits of paper and what have you that drops on the floor.

Update to Review written in 2018 remains unchanged: Best Manual Sweeper Ever Experienced. – I used to work for a national airline where my job, at various times, was to freshen the carpet in the passenger cabin (passengers in place.) Our equipment was a Bissell carpet sweeper which I thought at the time was the “best thing since sliced bread”. I have the Sanitaire sweeper for a little more than two years now and I have to revise my previous assessment re the Bissell; the Sanitaire beats the Bissell hands down. First, because it is adjustable to different surface levels by way of the dial on the top of the brush assembly. Second, the side circular bristles are good for attacking debris along baseboards. Third, emptying the debris collector is the easiest of any manual sweeper I’ve used in the last fifty years. Simply unlatch it from the brush assembly, lift up, take it to the trash bin and pour it out. Other units leave debris behind to clog the bristles.

The part of the handle that attaches to the unit is just two sturdy pieces of metal wire – I’ve had a few of this type of manual sweepers over the years (can’t remember the brands), and each has their quirks I’ve had to work around.
