Good sonic ice maker, so so on the storage, melts into the tank to be ice again – The Freezimer ice maker is made in PRC (china). The ice maker cost $460 (plus tax) on November 12, 2022. My wife says this is the same as her sonic ice she buys by the bag full from the sonic near her workplace. She empties the machine each night of ice for her beverages. This machine has been used regularly in the past three weeks, and it keeps up. No ice to ice is about ten minutes. We leave the tray about half full with ice and do not use the included filters (we already have reverse osmosis under the sink). You do not have to drain the tank nightly. The melted ice goes back into the water reservoir to make new ice. The ice chamber is not cooled, so I do expect to clean it with vinegar about once a month (I do the same for an undercounter ice machine already). Everything is plastic with the Freezimer ice machine, including the auger for dispensing the ice (a weak point for me). I can say, for the money, this is a good machine that does take a bit of counter space, but gives sonic ice in return.

Powerful ice maker in a small form factor – When I was in high school, I was the envy of everyone. Not because I’m smart, handsome and charming. I am, but that’s not why they envied me. They envied me because my family had an ice maker in the kitchen. We’re not talking about a refrigerator with a built in ice maker–we’re talking a full sized ice maker such as you’d find in the breezeway of a Holiday Inn. Come to think of it, that might be where my dad ‘found’ it. Once you have access to this bounty of fresh, delicious ice 24/7 nothing else will be good enough for you. Sure, you can get a refrigerator that can do cubes, crushed ice or ice water through the front door. That still can’t replace a full on, dedicated ice making device.
