Great alternative to high priced hood inserts – We replaced our high end fan hood insert worth this unit from KOBE. The old hood lasted 14 years. I’m hoping for at least half of that with this one. The high end hood has a very expensive fan housing which is cast aluminum and it moved more air. It was just going to be too expensive to have the motor replaced, so we got this one. It has the high end look, and it works great. You get what you pay for, so for $300 it’s five stars.

    2. O. L (verified owner)

Worth it! – This good his 3 suction levels, quiet:low:high. It works really well and the quiet setting is really quiet. Great led lights. It does Not come with an insert so we used a left over cabinet piece and built around that.

    3. E. G (verified owner)

Quiet, easy to use – I was turned off by the fact that the lights were a bright light. But if you call the manufacturer you can buy. “warm” white replacement, which, is still pretty bright, but not as crazy stark white.

Great Hood, High-End look – We purchased this hood to replace a microwave we had installed about our cooktop and have been using it about 1 month. We already had an electrical outlet from the previous microwave, so plugging it in was no problem. We gave it a test run before installation and everything worked fine. We build a custom hood to surround the range-hood. One thing that we could not picture, previous to our purchase was how the bottom of the hood would look while standing at the range. The finish of the Kobe hood looks like a professional range hood, the interchangeable grates and the finished edges look great. However, the range hood itself is smaller than the cabinet we built around it. To be clearer, when you are cooking, there is wood showing around the finished edges of the range hood. I didn’t want to paint the wood and didn’t want to worry about grease collecting on the wood etc. To combat this we created a stainless steel insert (to cover any of the wood showing from underneath) from a single sheet and then used tin snips to cut the hole to fit the hood through. The range hood comes with a finished cover, to house the lights and grill assembly, so any rough edges of stainless are well hidden. We installed a similar hood in our previous home with the help of a contractor to drill the hole outside for a vent. This installation we did it ourselves by purchasing a 6-inch drill “bit” to create the hole for the exhaust to the outside, an elbow to connect the hood to the outside and a cap assembly to finish off outside against the siding. Regarding drafts from outside the house through the hood. The range comes with a damper that fits in the top of the hood. Between that damper and the one attached to the outside assembly, there are zero drafts into the kitchen (even during sub-zero temps). The fan is VERY quiet on low, medium speed is noticeable and high is louder still. That said, there is no vibrating or obtrusive noise with it running on high. Set 30 inches above our cooktop, the fan moves the air very well and we have only needed to use the high speed once for something burned. The lights are a bit bright but, they are great for cooking. I do not think they would make a great nightlight for the kitchen. I hope this information was helpful for some of you, as I answered my questions while searching for just the right range hood, and we found it!

Excelente para un gabinete que no quieres que se vea el extractor – El extractor fue instalado dentro del gabinete superior para que no interrumpiera el diseño. A penas se ve en la cocina. Me encantó. No hace mucho ruido y es funcional

Great performance, good performance overall solid value – I needed to replace a very cheap and very old range insert above my range. I spent a lot of time researching and looking for an insert that was quality but NOT something in the $500-$1000 range. I shopped all the large online appliance sites and everything decent was pricey. I found Kobe brand and researched a few models here on Amazon. I wanted a larger Kobe insert with the 750CFM+ but my application did not have the width for this. I settle for this model and it worked out great. This unit is really well built, has a powerful 3-speed fan and really nice and bright LED twin lights. The Q (low) fan speed is super quiet (almost silent) and Normal (middle) speed is plenty for normal cooking use. The top fan speed is really powerful but not quiet, which is my mind is just fine for this draw/speed. Also inludes 6″ top mount exhaust and a hardwired electrical plug w/ ground. Also there is a snap-in 2 piece flapper which will prevent any backflow of air through the fan/inside which is nice. There was also two sets of filters included–the baffle-grate style filters and also aluminum mesh, which I think is nice. I did not see many offering both of these. The only real complaint is the instructions are a bit weak, not that you really not much to figure out how to install this.

Love it! – We built a range hood for the Kobe built in system. It has a very sleek design with great suction. The lighting is bright and the design is very attractive. It is a little loud when on the higher settings but other than that it works wonderfully.

Working for us for now – I wanted to get in touch with another reviewer Scott. Hey Scott, after reading your review we did what you said and tested it out of the box on the floor. It worked fine……. But, after installing it just like you the low button didn’t work. With help from our installer we just determined that the little slide in “spade” plugs needed a little tightening with needle nose pliers to make them a better tight fit. That sounds to me like what happened to you. If you get this you could do this yourself by disconnecting the power, taking down the part you see under the stove (easy) and you would have access to the wiring and could squeeze the spade plugs a little and it should solve your problem. Hope this helps, it’s just a case of not so good plugs I guess. Robert Mellinger, South Lyon
