Left element failed right after the warranty expired – We installed this cooktop on a boat. I liked it very much. As it was the 120 volt model it adjusted the power consumption when using both surfaces so as to not overload the circuit. Sadly, the left element failed about three months after the 2 year warranty expired. Maybe I just got a bum unit, but I expect better than that. In fairness, I have not contacted the manufacturer. I think I will try, but in today’s world I doubt they will replace the unit.

wow.amazing cooktop – it is an amazing unit.it replaced an electric cooktop the former owner had and being an amateur chef, electric sucks! The new Empava was easily wired since the existing electric was 30-40amp so all we had to do was switch out a breaker, unhook the cooktop, drop in the induction as the space was a perfect fit and hook up the wires.

Not great, maybe adequate for some. – Review after brief use and return of unit. Noisy fan, touch control symbols are difficult to see/interpret against dark background, beeps when controls are touched are annoying (the only feedback on a flat, hard surface), controls are not separated enough from elements so there is a risk of touching a hot surface, especially if ambient lighting is not bright. On the positive side, easy looking surface to clean, unit is a slim form that can probably be mounted easily in to a counter top but was used on top of counter and was not too tall.

After I got accustomed to, I really like it! – After reading comments on Amazon and elsewhere, I was a bit unsure how this would work out. But my old cooktop needed replacement parts which were not available due to its’ age, and my cookware was approved for induction use, so I took a chance. After getting used to some slight differences, I love this. At the moment, I have chili simmering in a large pot. I can hear the induction coils cycling on and off, sort of a quiet buzz, but not annoying to me. Sometimes my cookware can make small noises due to the induction coil below, but not problem. So far, the glass top has proven to be scratch resistant and very easy to clean. One small issue is if a drop of water or cooking oil lands on the controls, or if you wipe a damp cloth over the controls while cooking, you might accidentally turn the appliance off. But that is really minor. Overall, getting close to a year of using this Empava, it works well, does what I need, and I would buy it again!
