Ice Maker for a few drinks or very small party. YOU pay return shipping! – The ice storage feels very small. You would need to let it run and make sure you were refilling the small water tank that feeds the ice maker. Makes good ice solid ice. If you are going to have more than a few people over, I don’t think this would work for providing ice. I bought a larger one and it’s storage is 33lbs. and it makes 100lbs. a day. It runs off of a 5 gallon jug or water faucet hook up. This way you don’t have to fill it and it keeps making the ice.

Who knew how much joy ice cubes could bring? – After more than a year of dealing with a horrible ice maker in my refrigerator, I was fed up with the constant need to de-ice and wait forever for just a few cubes. When I started my research for a portable ice cube maker, I knew I wanted an actual cube shape, rather than bullet or pebble. Am I the only one who loves the square cubes you get in most restaurants? Not wanting one more thing on my kitchen counter, I originally thought I would keep it in my basement so I wasn’t overly concerned about the size. Turns out, I don’t mind it in the kitchen, but I do wish it was slightly smaller in form factor. However, I’m willing to sacrifice that for the performance factor and ease of filling (it’s right next to my filtered water). Please note that my review is based on about a month’s worth of use. I use filtered water, which produced a semi-clear cube for me (I live in WI and must use a water softener), that is far superior to the super cloudy ice produced by my refrigerator (both my current one and previous one). In my ice-making tests, I prefer to add 4 minutes to the cube-making process to create a thick cube. I do have to break up the ice before storing in my freezer. It’s a minor thing for me and actually serves as a slight stress release. I use the included scooper to break things up. Since the weather has warmed up, we’re going through a lot more ice (hello ice tea!) so I run it every 3 days or so. I tend to set my watch timer for 30-60 minutes so I don’t forget to remove the ice for storage. While it sounds like a lot of monitoring, it’s really not a big deal if I’m already going to be home. After each use, I wipe down the machine and drain the reservoir about every 2 uses. While bulky, it’s light enough for me to bring it to the sink to do so. Because I have harder water, I also wipe it down with vinegar to remove any buildup. All the effort it worth it to me. The machine makes a lot of ice, the shape is great, it does not melt very quickly, and the cubes look fantastic in a cocktail! 🙂 Hoping this thing has some longevity, but so far, so good.

Very efficient, but don’t use tap water! – I’ve been using this for maybe 3 months now, and I have a britta filter on my water faucet. So I only use “britta filtered water” My ice maker is leaving nasty residue now. The ice is fine at first. But I’m constantly having to clean it out. It gets nasty! Not sure if I blame this or my britta. I’m thinking it may be my britta..

Don’t get the round ice cube makers – I went through two of the cheaper ice makers, Igloo included that make the little round ones with the holes in them. They are small capacity and don’t hold the ice, they melt away really fast both in your drinks and in the unit. This style is different, it makes solid cubes without holes in them so they last longer and they come off in big sheets, again they last longer if you only break them up as much as you need to fit in your glass. Plus has a cycle temperature adjustment to increase freezing time, again they last longer this way. Pretty good capacity and fairly easy to clean. Strongly recommend using distilled water in it unless you like cleaning mineral deposits all the time but that’s with any of them. Spend a little more on one of these and you be happy you did instead of frustrated and mad at the other ones that suck.

Awful ice – This is a terrible ice maker. The instructions don’t make sense and the ice maker takes entirely too long to process the ice. There are much better versions that are much quieter and not as heavy as this one. It is an awkward size and takes up too much counter space. Not a great investment. We should have returned it.

    6. D. M (verified owner)

QUALITY ICE MAKER – To date this ice maker has worked extremely well. Filling the unit with water is simple and easy. When filled the unit begins making ice immediately. You can set it for thin or thick ice dependent on your needs. I really like the fact that the ice is ready in under ten minutes. Will update as time goes on with this unit.

    7. B. F (verified owner)

EASY TO USE – So far no issues. Have made alot of ice. I prefer this over ice maker in fridge just because eventually ice tastes like the supply hose. This you just fill with external water. Shuts off automatically when no water or not used in few

Misleading Information – I purchased this ice machine about 18 months ago. The “PLAINLY” states it’s self-cleaning. It isn’t self-cleaning, which is false and misleading information according to the FTC. I’m filing a complaint with them for this reason. I have spoke with Costway 3+ times and they state if you hold power button for 5 seconds it will start self-cleaning, yet it doesn’t. Numerous customers have stated it isn’t self-cleaning. I did what they stated to clean the machine, and now it is leaking water and had started to mold on the inside due to unable to clean throughly. Costway needs to be held accountable for theirs false and misleading information. I’m looking into getting a class-action suit to STOP them from continuing to state this false and misleading information. I wouldn’t have spent $200 if I knew from the start it wasn’t self-cleaning, and by reading other reviews, I don’t believe other customers would have purchased either.
