Fixed my refrigerator issue – I have a Maytag refrigerator that would defrost too long and my food and ice cubes thawed periodically. This part fixed the problem.

Solucionó mi problema – El freezer estaba congelando todo y se formaba una capa de hielo en las paredes. Compré la tarjeta y aunque llegó más tarde al instalarla se solucionó el problema.

Works great – The mounting is slightly different from the factory piece. The 1 inch screws from the original were too short for this replacement part. I had to get 1.25 inch screws from the hardware store to install it. The new part works great.

Might be right Defroster Control board, BUT SCREW STANDOFFS ARE TOO TALL – Package arrived fast. Which for HVAC, Fridge Appliance or plumbing parts is the way I like it. Took out old part, the standoffs on the original are short around 1cm off the topside of the board and WHITE. The NEW part has standoffs that are 15mm to 20mm off the topside of the board and are RED. The standoff has a tab that keeps the standoff base secure to the board. I had to cut the standoff to be the correct height which takes the tabs with the top. So I then had to zip tie the stand off base to hold it to the board. This should have been a plug and play thing since the part #’s are exact matches. What’s with that? Here’s a suggestion, the suppliers of these parts need to ditch Chinese MFG’s as a supply-side and go back with Japan like the original part. At least the part would be as perfect as possible, last 17 years and actually fit the way it was designed.

Fixed my problem – I had been defrosting my old refrigerator weekly. Usually I replace the round thermostat and that fixes my problem. Not this time. I purchased this and now it’s fixed! Easy to install but I did need longer screws.

Perfect replacement for OEM part at a fraction of the cost. – The OEM part is currently $208, which is completely insane for a board that contains a tiny amount of 20 year old technology.

Fixed the problem!!! – So our freezer was icing over and then not cooling well because the evaporator was entombed in ice. I defrosted it with a hair dryer, but then it iced again (see youtube videos on defrosting a freezer). I checked the door seal, that was good (and you can tell by the pull it takes to open the door – you should ‘feel’ the door suck a little air when you open it). I checked the thermostat that is attached on the evaporator coils, and it tested good. There are lots of youtube videos on that, and it’s easy with a multi tester. The only thing left is the timer. Well our refrigerator is fancy, and has an actual circuit board, and not just a clock-work timer. The circuit board controls the heating element that periodically heats up the evaporator in the freezer section to keep ice from forming by melting it off. This circuit board is not the identical Whirlpool part, but it’s the part Whirlpool said replaced the part in our refrigerator. It went in fine, plugged up fine, and it now works. Word of caution- if your freezer is iced over enough that ice-cream is soft or ‘melty’, and you replace your board with this part (or whatever part is keeping the heating element from working) – obviously unplug it first, but also you may want to defrost the freezer yourself (with a hair dryer and towels to catch the melted water) before replacing the part. I didn’t do that, and the heater came on to melt all the ice that built up over two weeks, (as it’s supposed to) and that made a lot of water that dripped down into the refrigerator part. So I had to sop up water in the refrigerator part from all the melted ice from the freezer, but overall it’s worth it, and has worked fine since. Whirlpool wanted over $300 for the part, so this is a deal at $50. Much cheaper than a new refrigerator or hiring someone to do it for you.
